Another One Bites the Dust
Hi there!
I've got to say, this monday has been a mixed bag. BUT! In a good way, if I take some time to reflect.
So, I put my 2D level layouts in our design document and wrote basically a walkthrough that explained the purpose of the designs.
However, in the afternoon my group had a discussion about several things that needed to be specified or discussed in general. The slopes in the levels was one of the things on the list. In the levels I have crafted, slopes appear and the player is supposed to run up or down. The intention was to add depth to the gameplay, so that the player is not only jumping in order to progress upwards.
The downside with the slopes is the collision and clipping between the objects. We came to the conclusion that it would be too much of a hassle to solve, since we only have five precious weeks to complete this game.
So the slopes. Are. Out.
As a result, I re-designed the 2D level layouts so that they had no slopes, but still were (theoretically) interesting to the player.
I may have taken one step, but managed to take two steps forward afterwards. I think the game will be much better off without those slopes, even if I had to redo some work.
