“There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something"

Welcome back! (or welcome, first-timers)


The theme of the day for me has been research, research, research. The dawn of creating the level is nigh, so I have spent a large part of the day doing research about how other games do their level design. The particular games that I researched were: Hollow Knight, Celeste, Super Meat Boy and Rayman Legends.


What this research consisted of was watching GDC's from developers of said games (about their level design) and analyzing gameplay. When that part of the research was done, I took the design choices that I felt fit our game and played with ideas of how they could be applied.


On top of this, I have also continued working on the GDD and made a few mock-up options regarding how the HUD will work in the game.


Tomorrow, I will hopefully have some sketches from the levels to show you!
